Dawaco ayaa maalin maalmaha ka mid ah Tuke duulaya oo gabal yaroo farmaajo (cheese) ah gafuurka ku sita dabadeedna geed laantiisa ku degeya aragtay. “Cadkaasi aniga ayaa calfanaya,” ayay dawacadii tidhi. Waxay u dhaqaaqday oo hoos tagtay dhankii geedka uu ahaa.
“Tukow, maalin wanaagsan!” ayay ku cod dheereeysatay.“ Xaalkaaga maanta ka warran: baalashaada waraasida ah ka warran; indhahaaga dhalaalka ah ka warran! Hubaashii waxaan dareemayaa in codkaagu khasab shimbirraha kale ka wacanyahay. Muuqaalkaaguna waa sidoo kale. Adigu mar qudhase hees uun i maqashii, dabadeed aan kugu salaamee in aad Boqorkii Shimbirraha tahay.”
Tukihii madaxiisii ayuu sare u taagay oo sida ula qurxooneed codkiisiiqaaqlaha ahaa ku dhuftay. Hayeeshee, kolkuu afka kala qaaday ayaa cadkii farmaajada ahaa dhulka ku soo dhacay, kaddib noqotay in Dawacadii ay calfato.
“Igu filan,” ayay Dawacadii tidhi. “Intaa ayaan doonayay. Farmaajadaada beddelkeeda waxaan ku siinayaa talo gaaban oo timaaddada wax kaa tarta: Waligaa ha saddiqin sasabaalayaasha!”

The Fox and the Crow
A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree. “That’s for me,” said the Fox, and he walked up to the foot of the tree.
“Good day, Mistress Crow,” he cried. “How well you are looking today: how glossy your feathers; how bright your eyes. I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does. Let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the Queen of Birds.”
The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by the Fox.
“That will do,” said he. “That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the future: Do not trust flatterers.”
